You won’t want to tell your family what’s in these delicious, dairy-free snacks.
Avocado.
What are the benefits of eating avocados, you may ask. It’s an amazing fruit with seemingly endless health benefits. Studies show they reduce inflammation, boost moods, relieve leg cramps, and regulate blood pressure and digestion.
Why wouldn’t you incorporate this creamy delight into your diet?
Benefits of Eating Avocados
If you’re anything like my husband, then you aren’t a lover of avocado. He believes the only place you should find this green fruit is in sushi.
However, they are a rich source of magnesium and have more potassium than bananas. (Great for me since I’m not a banana fan. I let my kids take care of those.) Potassium helps relax blood vessels and magnesium assists with blood flow. The combination is great for regulating blood pressure and relieving leg cramps.
Avocados are also excellent sources of vitamin B6 and vitamin C. Both essential in everyday life, but especially for pregnant women.
B6 contributes to detoxification of the liver (helps with nausea), improves cognitive health, treats anemia, aids in healthy skin, and much more.
Vitamin C boosts the immune system, helps neutralize free radicals, and allows repairing of cartilage and bones.
Along with being rich in folate, avocados provide 21 grams of fat and 10 grams of fiber.
We all know fiber is great for the digestion, but not many know the specifics of healthy fats. Don’t worry, I researched it for you.
Avocados have both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Polyunsaturated fats are essential for your body to function properly, but your body can’t make it by itself. Whereas monounsaturated fats have been shown to reduce inflammation, lower the risk of heart disease, and have anti-cancer effects.
Not too shabby for a tiny, green package shunned by many
Benefits of Cacao Powder
Let’s face it, chocolate is nearly irresistible, especially during pregnancy. However, it’s important to get the right kind of chocolate. Cacao is a powerful superfood that hasn’t been heated, processed, nor loaded with sugar.
When used correctly, cacao has been known to clear the mind, stir up a healthy dose of happiness, and is even energizing.
This delicious ingredient is extremely high in antioxidants and contains a high concentration of magnesium. Perfect for derailing cravings, assisting with a migraine, and fighting pregnancy fatigue.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is one of many to add to a list of superfoods in pregnancy. It’s an amazing source of healthy fat, which increases metabolism. A nice, surprising side effect of this potent oil is that it decreases cravings for sugar and provides sustainable energy throughout the day.
Add coconut oil to at least one meal a day. It has antibacterial properties which makes it great for fighting viruses, parasites, and other foreign pathogens in the body.
How to Make Healthy Fudge
It’s time to trick the brain into believing its being spoiled with a forbidden treat.
Combine these amazing superfoods in a blender, throw in a pinch of salt, and add vanilla for an extra wow for the taste buds.
Even my husband loves them. It’s a victory worthy of the pages of history.
